Making A Office More Masculine

If you are busy decorating your husband’s home office, you obviously want to try to make it more of a “manly” type of office, but you might not know where to start.

Making Colors Match Who He Is

A good place to begin is by choosing the color scheme. Woody browns, dark reds, beige, and green are commonly known as male colors. You can also use the colors of his favorite sport team, as an alternative. If he were a big rugby, cricket, or soccer fan, for example, then he would love the fact that you incorporated his passion with his office furniture.

What about using his personal favorite hue since integrating the color that he likes into the decorating will show how much you love him and care. Won’t he appreciate this more than a basic stereotypical manly office?

More Manly Furnishings For The Masculine Office

A good way to go would be to get some heavy wood furniture. A large wooden desk adds stature to the room while making a statement about whom your husband is. If you don’t like wooden furniture you can also go for metal as the futuristic feel is known to appeal to most men. You should try to get box shaped items, as square and symmetrical stuff are attractive to the male eye.

If he is a sport fan you can try to get some sport themed office furniture and décor but be careful of taking it too far as this can easily look tacky. Get unique memorabilia of his favorite sport team and put them in display cases, on bookshelves or mount them on the wall.

Put an oversized comfortable leather chair behind the desk and make sure there is a place for you to sit when you join him in the office as well as enough seating should he get clients at home.

Mounting a large flat screen on the wall will give the room that something extra, plus he also has a place to watch the game in peace.

Manly Accents Make All The Difference

Small things could make or break the office you are trying to build. For example if you choose drapes as your window covering it may come across as too formal, making roman shades or blinds for a better choice for your windows.

Plants are important in any office but remember you are dealing with a man here. Go for more plants that don’t need too much maintenance and care. Something like a cactus or a rubber tree in a nice pot may be a good feature and it won’t die in a week’s time.

The desk accessories are just as important a part of the office furniture in your mans’ new office. Get a great picture of you and him and put them in a simple yet striking frame and other finishes like a wood blotter, a leather pen/pencil box, or a metal desk tray. Make sure the material you choose is the same material you use throughout the decor.

Even In Office Furniture, Woman Are From Venus And Men Are From Mars

Besides the basic office furniture that you will find in nearly every office, like the reception desk, chairs and/or electrical equipment, you will realize there is a clear distinction between female orientated pieces and office furniture made for a man.
Neither would feel completely comfortable in the office of the other and it is for this reason that you should pick the right pieces to match all that is man.
